Details: Lakeside Manor YHA is a luxurious hostel accommodation in a grand 1880s heritage-listed sandstone mansion. It won best backpacker accommodation at the South Australian Tourism awards in 2007.It was built from stone quarried from the Woakwine Range and transported by bullock wagon between 1882 and 1885. Skirting boards and doors are blackwood and cedar and fireplaces are Italian marble. Floors are Baltic pine and many rooms have bay windows allowing an abundance of natural light to enter. Many fixtures and fittings were brought from Europe and Britain.
